Qualified to Coach?
There is no mandatory standard or qualification to coach Muay Thai in Thailand so it is better that you check that your chosen gym/instructor has the relevant qualifications.
Master Burklerk followed the time-consuming route of completing all of the Sports Authority of Thailand and The Board of Boxing Sports Coaches licenses.
After he finished fighting he knew he wanted to be a coach and knew also that being a former Lumpinee Champ and Golden era legend would earn him enough credibility to run a camp, but he wanted to ensure that he learned how to teach his unique style of Muay Thai effectively. Fighting is a skill that does not always lead to having the skill to teach.
He did the Thai Government Board of Boxing Sport C, B, and A License courses. He is certified by the WPMTA, which is the Sports Authority of Thailands only professionally recognized body, as a Muay Thai Specialist. He was made a “Muay Thai Ambassador” of the sport in 2010. This is like a nationally recognized Lifetime achievement award.
